Welcome to the City Court of Gary
Initially, the Gary City Court was primarily developed as a traffic court. As times have changed, the Court has had to evolve to meet the needs of the public. Since the mid 1950's, criminal and civil divisions as well as other ancillary programs have been developed and implemented.
For the year 2001, Judge Deidre Monroe and her staff of 60 employees, processed 36,602 new cases. This figure includes filings that comprise criminal, infractions, civil and city ordinance violations. These statistics represent the largest municipal court caseload in the state of Indiana.
