CLEAN UP TIPS FOR GARY RESIDENTS
Recycle! Save landfill space and taxpayer dollars. Plastic and glass bottles, newspaper and office paper, metal cans, and cardboard go in the red recycle bin, not in the garbage can. Call the City of Gary Recycling Department to have a recycling bin delivered to your residence 882-8445 ext. 42.
Paint, Oil, Chemicals, Batteries, etc. should not be thrown in the garbage. Take these items to the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Day. Contact the Lake County Solid waste district at 769-3820, for the next disposal date.
Leaves and grass in brown paper compost bags (no plastic bags) will be picked up with your recycling at the curb on your regular garbage day. Call the City of Gary Recycling Dept. 882-8445 ext. 42 for more information.
