    Environmental Sanitation

    Health inspections are conducted to ensure that foods are safe, wholesome and sanitary. Health inspectors regulate retail food establishments to ensure all food products are in compliance with state laws and regulations. Sanitation requirements are designed to offer a more comprehensive approach to protecting the consumer from contaminated food and food borne illnesses. Four on-site routine quarterly inspections are conducted of all restaurants and food handling establishments in the City of Gary.
