Initiatives/Projects

The Commissions recently initiated two exciting projects through funds from HUD and substantiated by the City of Gary.

Predatory Renting -
Furthers the enforcement against discrimination in fair housing and meeting the mandates of the Commission's responsibility to make sure the community's need for habitable housing is available.

American Disability Act -
Promote accessibility for disabled individual, and assists the staff in the housing division with complaint intake under the Fair Housing Act and the Gary Human Relations Commission in regards to discrimination and unfair housing issues identified in private/public housing
