Introduction
The Gary Human Relations Commission is an enforcement agency created by law with a mandate for fair housing, as stipulated under the Gary Civil Rights Ordinance. As part of that stipulation, the Gary Human Relations Commission has an obligation to protect the community from Residential Management Corporations and/or Landlords that target our community for the practice of renting dwellings that are substandard or uninhabitable for humans.
We submit this proposal "PREDATORY RENTING" for the purpose of furthering the enforcement against discrimination in fair housing and meeting the mandates of the Commission's responsibility to make sure the community's need for habitable housing is available.
This proposal is designed to track those complaints that detail Residential Management Corporations and /or unfit for human habitation for the purpose of eliminating "SLUMBLORDS" and "PREDATORY RENTING" in our community.
