Tips on Finding the Right Career/Job Path You Are Looking For
- Research the kind of training, skills and education necessary to achieve your goal. Write down the clear steps on how you will pursue your career goal
- Find a university, college, trade school or training program that will help you prepare for your career goal and occupation of choice
- Self assessments, taking a look at your interests, personality, work values, skills.
- Shortly before you graduate, prepare your resume and get career advice. Talk to a counselor at your career guidance center for help on resume writing, job searching and interviewing techniques.
- Complete your coursework or degree. While in school, take part-time jobs or internships in the career that interests you.
- Remember that your search may take some time and you might have to go down a few different roads before finding the right one.
- Notice problems that stir your compassion or excite your imagination. Reflect on store of people you admire.
- Think about what you enjoy and what you are good at doing. Take career aptitude test to determine if you have the kind of personality and values necessary to meet your career goal.
- Look into occupations in your career area of choice. Decide if the job outlook, salary and working conditions will meet your needs. Narrow your focus onto one or two specific jobs in your chosen career field.

- Fear, anger, sorrow, despair and feeling lost are common. Find people you feel comfortable sharing your feelings with.
- Use networking to find coaching on everything from networking to self-presentation. Join a job club for support and accountability.
- Ask career counselors, friends, and your local job development programs for leads. Find a mentor with
practical ideas and inspiration.
- Present your situation in the best light and prepare to talk about gaps in your employment. Friends in public relations and human resources can help.
- "Help me get a job, any job!" is unlikely to generate the right help. Make your requests to contact and friends specific and achievable.
