Construction Material Testing Services: Marquette Park Lakefront East

Construction Material Testing Services are being sought for the Marquette Park Lakefront East Project. Qualified firms are invited to submit sealed proposals, subject to the conditions and instructions as specified, for Inspection, Sampling and Testing of project.

Located along the South Shore of Lake Michigan, the 241-acre Marquette Park is one of Northwest Indiana's most admired and historic regional parks. Collectively, when construction is completed in Spring 2012, park rehabilitation and new improvements will help to re-establish Marquette Park as one of Northwest Indiana's premier lakefront destinations and to enhance quality of life for citizens of Gary and Northwest Indiana.

The City and the project team have identified the following list of eleven capital improvement projects: Recreation Pavilion and Site, Gary Bathing Beach Pavilion “Aquatorium,” Children's Playground, Father Marquette Monument and Site, Lake Street Beach, Armory, Lagoon, Beach Parking/Special Event Area, Infrastructure, Natural Areas, and Shoreline and Beach. The project team composed of Hitchcock Design Group and ACS / Skillman J.V. are assisting the City in the selection of the Construction Material Testing company. Hitchcock Design Group is the program manager and the prime consultant responsible for planning and landscape architecture. ACS / Skillman J.V. is the construction manager.

The City of Gary will contract directly with the Construction Material Testing company for testing throughout construction. The contract will be awarded as a unit price not to exceed contract. The construction manager will be responsible for coordinating these services between the Construction Material Testing company and the Prime Contractors.

A pre proposal conference is scheduled for May 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the Cleo Wesson Council Lounge, City Hall, 401 Broadway, Gary, Indiana.

The Board of Public Works and Safety must receive all proposals on or before May 25, 2011 at 10:00 AM (CST). Please submit one (1) original and nine (9) copies of the proposal to:
