MLK DRIVE BRIDGE CLOSED PENDING SUPERSTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT
FOLLOW UP ANALYSIS SHOWS SEVERITY OF CRACKS ON BRIDGE SUPERSTRUCTURE

Gary, Indiana - After further analysis by structural engineers from the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and its consultant, INDOT is closing the Martin Luther King Drive bridge over I-80/94(Borman Expressway) today to all traffic as an additional safety precaution.

MLK DRIVE BRIDGE RESTRICTED OVER BORMAN EXPRESSWAY
TRAFFIC RESTRICTED TO PASSENGER VEHICLES ONLY UNTIL FURTHER INSPECTION TAKES PLACE

Gary, Indiana - After conferring with its bridge consultant late Friday afternoon, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has decided in the interest of public safety to restrict traffic on the Martin Luther King Drive bridge over I-80/94(Borman Expressway) to passenger vehicles only and reroute trucks and buses away from the bridge.

CITY-WIDE COMMUNITY CLEAN UP, PART 3 SCHEDULED

Gary, Indiana - The City of Gary, Youth Services Bureau, in conjunction with the Gary Clean Up Committee has scheduled the "One Block At A Time" City-Wide Community Clean Up, Part 3. The event will take place on Saturday, May 8, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with registration being held at 9:30 a.m. at the Hudson-Campbell Fitness Center, 455 Massachusetts Street.
