FREE FLU SHOTS

Gary, Indiana - Free flu shots are available to Gary residents, by appointment, while supplies last. To qualify, you must be a Gary resident and present ID that verifies residency. The flu vaccine is administered on Thursdays, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.

MAYOR CLAY ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF
NEW POLICE CHIEF

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Rudy Clay will hold a Press Conference, Tuesday, November 24, 2009 to announce his appointment of the City’s new Police Chief.

The Press Conference will be held in the Gary Room of City Hall at 11:00 a.m.

City Hall is located at 401 Broadway.

ANNUAL INSURANCE WORKSHOP: "OPTIONS"

Gary, Indiana - The Gary Human Relations Commission proudly announces their Annual Insurance Workshop: “OPTIONS.” The event will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the City Hall Annex Building, 839 Broadway, in the Conference Room, first floor, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

S.R. 912 (CLINE AVENUE) BRIDGE TO REMAIN CLOSED FOR A MINIMUM OF 6 WEEKS

LAKE COUNTY, Indiana - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces State Road 912 (Cline Avenue) will remain closed to all traffic for a minimum of six weeks. INDOT received the results of a detailed bridge inspection report performed by INDOT consultant URS Corporation. Based on the initial evaluation of the report by INDOT inspectors, engineers and management staff the bridge will remain closed as a precautionary safety measure for the motoring public.

CITY GOVERNMENT TO CLOSE FOR VETERANS’ DAY

Gary, Indiana - The City of Gary’s municipal offices will be closed on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, in observance of Veterans’ Day.

Regular working hours will resume on Thursday, November 12, 2009.

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Rudy Clay will hold a Press Conference today to discuss the recent homicides in the city. He will give an update in the homicide case of Lillie Tolbert Miller and Doressa Miller.

Gary Police Officials will join Mayor Clay in the conference.

The time for the Press Conference has changed from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. It will be held in the Gary Room of City Hall, 401 Broadway.

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Rudy Clay announced today his invitation to Mayors, Police Chiefs and Pawn Shop Owners of Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties to meet regarding the transfer of stolen goods obtained through home burglaries and robberies.
