CITY ANNOUNCES CAMPAIGN AGAINST BREAST CANCER LUNCHEON

Gary, Indiana - The City of Gary, Division of Health & Human Services, in partnership with the Methodist Hospitals, and the Lake County Minority Health Coalition, announces the annual Campaign Against Breast Cancer Luncheon. The event will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Genesis Convention Center, One Genesis Center Plaza, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

CLAY STREET OPEN - NOT CHASE STREET

Gary, Indiana - A press release earlier today erroneously indicated that Chase Street is now open. Please be advised that Chase Street remains closed until further notice. However, Clay Street is now open.

CHASE STREET OPEN IN GARY

Gary, Indiana - The General Services Department announced that Chase Street on the city’s west side is open. Chase Street was one of many closed following heavy flooding on city streets.

GARY OPENS ONE LANE GRANT STREET

Gary, Indiana - Officials have opened one lane to north and south traffic on Grant Street in the city.

At present, other main thoroughfares in the city: Chase Street, Martin Luther King Drive, Georgia Street, Clark Road, Harrison Street, Clark Road and Colfax Street continue to be closed.

Broadway Burr and Calhoun streets continue to be open.
