MAYOR CLAY THROWS OUT FIRST PITCH AT WORLD CUP SERIES

Gary, Indiana - The Mayor's 1st Annual Youth World Cup Series will kick-off with Press Conference this afternoon at 4:45 p.m. at the US Steel Yard stadium.

Mayor Rudy Clay will throw out the first pitch to start the tournament at 5:30 p.m.  The Junior Leagues will start the games with Gary against Merrillville.

The tournament will continue through Sunday.

MAYOR CLAY WELCOMES KEKE PALMER


Gary, Indiana -Mayor Clay will welcome KeKe Palmer, the 14-year old recording artist and actress who became well known through her lead character role in the critically acclaimed award-winning film, "Akeelah and the Bee".

The mayor will welcome KeKe to the city during a roundtable discussion on Friday, September 21, 2007.

The discussion is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Gary Room of City Hall.

MAYOR'S CUP; YOUTH LEAGUE BASEBALL TOURNAMENT SET
...GARY, INDIANA VERSUS OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA

Gary, Indiana -The 1st Annual Mayor's Cup Invitational Youth Baseball Tournament is set for this weekend at the US Steel Yard.  The inaugural event will feature baseball players from Gary verses baseball players from Oakland, California and a salute to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.

MAYOR CLAY URGES HOMEOWNERS TO APPLY FOR TAX CUT

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Clay is urging Gary residents to take advantage of the programs that may qualify homeowners for a cut in their 2008 property taxes.  Mayor Clay says Governor Mitch Daniels has approved an extension of the June deadline for applying for the cut in 2008 taxes.

BOOK AUTHOR COMES HOME
MAYOR CLAY HOSTS ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Rudy Clay will host a roundtable discussion for former Gary resident, Martha Tucker who is a book author, on Friday, September 7, 2007.

Ms. Tucker now lives in California and was the wife of a Los Angeles Mayor. Ms. Tucker's new book is titled, "The Mayor's Wife Wore Sapphires."

The Press Event is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Gary Room of City Hall.

GARY AWARDED A $496,000 GRANT FOR YOUTH

Gary, Indiana - Mayor Rudy Clay will hold a Press Conference Thursday, September 6, 2007 to announce the receipt of a $496,000 grant that targets education for Gary's youth.

The Press Conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. in the Gary Room of City Hall.

A Northwest Indiana Workforce Board representative, and Gary School Superintendent Mary Steele-Agee will join the Mayor in the press conference.
