Riley Road Closure in East Chicago

Demolition of Cline Avenue bridge prompts weeklong detour in Lake County


EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the closure of Riley Road between Canal Street and Pine Street, beginning Monday, September 17th through Friday, September 21st, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to ensure driver safety while crews demolish the Cline Avenue bridge.

A detour will take eastbound traffic west from the Riley Road/Canal Street intersection, north on Indianapolis Boulevard, east on 129th Street, south on Dickey Road, and back to Riley Road. Westbound drivers will travel east from the intersection of Riley Road/Pine Street, north on Dickey Road, west on 129th Street, south on Indianapolis Boulevard, and back to Riley Road.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
