The City of Gary Department of Public Works is soliciting Request for Quotations (RFQ) for repair of Street Lights on 5th Avenue from Grant Street to Broadway

Copies of the Specifications for the above work may be obtained from the Department of Public Works and Safety, 401 Broadway, Suite 300, Gary, Indiana 46402

Sealed, quotes must be submitted to the Department of Public Works, 401 Broadway, Suite 300, Gary, Indiana, 46402, no later than 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 1, 2014.  

A pre-Bid meeting and site visit will be held at the Department of Public Works on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. local time. The attendance to the pre-bid conference shall be mandatory to all potential bidders.

 Contractors must write their full legal name and quote date placed on the face of the envelope. Any contractors working within the City of Gary must possess the proper Contractor’s licenses prior to performing any work.  Should you have any questions regarding this RFP, please contact the Department of Public Works at 219-881-1310.

Bid Opening Project Contractor
July 9th, 2014

The Department of Public Works and Safety is soliciting bids for the 2014 City- wide Street Resurfacing Project. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2014, @ 10a.m. in the Cleo Wesson Lounge, 2nd Floor, Gary, Indiana, 46402.

Copies of the bid documents may be obtained from the Department of Public Works and Safety, 401 Broadway, Suite 300, Gary, Indiana 46402. Bid documents are available to prospective bidders for a non-refundable charge of Twenty- five ($25.00) per set to cover printing costs, made payable to the City of Gary for each set of documents obtained.

All bids, along with a Form 96 and a Financial Statement, shall be returned in a sealed envelope, addressed to the City of Gary Board of Public Works and Safety. The name and address of the bidder and the name of the project the bidder is responding to must appear on the outside of the envelope. Bids must be submitted on the forms provided by the City of Gary. Please provide four (4) copies.

No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the bids without the consent of the City of Gary Board of Public Works and Safety for a period of forty- five days after the scheduled time of closing bids. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the City of Gary, or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder, or an acceptable surety in an amount equal to 5% of the bid price, shall be submitted with each bid.

Bids will not be accepted from bidders whose business property is operated in violation of municipal ordinances. Each prospective bidder and subcontractor must have a General Business License and all applicable licenses. Wage rates on this project shall not be less than that of the common wage determined pursuant to provisions of Chapter 5-16-7 of the Indiana Code.

An award of contract may be made within 60 days following the date on which the bids are opened. The Board of Public Works and Safety reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive technicalities, to postpone the bid opening, to waive the formalities in the bid documents, or to advertise for new bids, if in the judgment of the City of Gary Board of Public Works and Safety, their best interests would be promoted thereby.

In its selection of the lowest, most responsive, and responsible bidder, the City of Gary will give weight to the lowest bid price, as well as to other factors, including but not limited to: ability and capacity, capital, competency and efficiency, experience, facilities, promptness, quality of previous work, fraud or unfairness in previous conduct, minority resident involvement in employment, applicable ordinances and statutes.
